Solar, Wind and Wood Energy
Because we depend...
on the health of our natural surroundings we always strive to reduce our own ecological footprint. We produce electricity with a state of the art power system including wind generators and four large solar trackers. An outdoor wood furnace, fuelled by waste wood, produces heat and hot water for the main buildings.
Love and respect...
for the environment and concerns for the sustainability of backcountry tourism have prompted us to be very active in local land and resource planning and to become members of a number of industry associations including the BC Fishing Resorts and Outfitters Association, the BC Wilderness Tourism Association, and the Upper Nechako Wilderness Council.
NECHAKO LODGE STORY
Let us introduce Nechako Lodge and the Doerig Family.
Nechako Lodge was built as a hunting lodge in the late 60's at a then inaccessible location on Knewstubb Lake near Kenney Dam. Over the years the lodge saw a number of owners and operators come and go until we, Elisabeth and Joe Doerig, purchased the property in 1987. We had emigrated from Switzerland in the early 80’s, bringing with us a wealth of experience in the hospitality business and a love for the wilderness of British Columbia. With renovations and improvements to all facilities and the addition of new services we were able to create a thriving business for our family.
